Beautify You
New thing I’ve been trying…

So I’ve been really tired the past couple weeks averaging about 3 hours of sleep a night…Long, crazy week. Spring break can do that to you i guess haha. But it’s really been taking a toll on my poor poor eyes. :( My fine lines under my eyes have turned into wrinkles, my eye bags have reached the status of purple, and my eyes have never been this puffy…EVER. BUT I HAVE A VERY NEW SOLUTION TO IT. I’ve been trying this for the past couple of days (mixed with a few more hours of sleep…lol) and it’s done WONDERS to my eyes :)

Eye cream + VASELINE

Steps in how I do my daily routine:

 1. Wash my face
 2. Apply Rose Water (or toner, the rose water seems to help me wake up though, I love the scent <3 )
 3. Apply my magic water ALL over my face, including my face by patting it on.
 4. Apply my daily moisturizer everywhere except my eye area
 5. Apply my SHISEIDO anti-dark circles eye cream (new one—LOVE IT) by dabbing it around the under eye area, and then slowly and lightly smoothing it in a u-shape motion
 6. Let eye cream soak in for about 3 minutes
 7. Take a very small amount of vaseline and smooth it over my fine line areas and apply the rest of it to my lashes (yup, right on top of it. It actually has been helping my lashes a lot! I’ve noticed they’ve gotten darker and thicker after only 3 days of this method)
 8. SLEEP FOR AT LEAST 6 HOURS

When I wake up, I immediately splash my face with cold water and then cup my eyes with my cold hands after for about 5 seconds. (its sooo refreshing!!!) Helps puffiness go down :) …[my hands get reaaally cold…like ice cold if i run it through cold water for a few min… if your hands don’t get cold as easily, opt for a cold spoon! takes puffiness DOWNNNN]

Love this method :) ******note: I have very dry, sensitive eyes. This trick hasn’t bugged my super sensitive eyes yet, which is a PLUS. If your eyes are more oily, then this might not be for you…This is more for people with dryer skin around the eye area or wrinkles in general in that area.********

Vaseline does WONDERS. (My grandma claims it helps with preventing white hair too…I still have yet to see if that’s true lol…I’ll get back to you guys on that)

Love you guyyyssss <3 Jen

Your deodorant: it actually can be deadly

You’d think that deodorant is probably the last thing that could kill you. I mean, it’s something you apply to your armpits, it’s not like you’re eating it right?

Well, in this case, eating it might be better…(I’m being sarcastic…I’m not saying eat your deodorant) Studies have shown that aluminum is a neurotoxin (aka really bad for your brain…it can lead to alzheimer’s) and its job in deodorants is to act as an antiperspirant— by clogging up the pores in your skin to prevent you from sweating. Aluminum is less harmful if you digest it/breathe it in, rather than applying it directly to your skin because it’s actually less absorbent that way. We breathe it in and eat it in our foods every day, but it’s in small amounts and it’s not harmful that way. But since we’re basically rubbing aluminum on our underarms, well…it’s definitely going to be absorbing a whole lot of it through the pores of the skin.

Anyways, most deodorants/anti-perspirants contain aluminum in a powder form. Aluminum is ok for you as long as it isn’t taken in high amounts, but in most deodorants, it’s 8-25% aluminum powder, which is a BIG no-no if you like your brain/health.

In the end, my point is that anti-perspirants are bad for you. Try finding a deodorant that is organic or just aluminum free. It may have to be applied more than your usual once or twice a day, but it’s definitely better for you.

Comparison

Milani Liquifeye Pencil Eyeliner Vs. Loreal Extra Intense Liquid Pencil Eyeliner

Loreal wins.

Both are comparable to the Urban Decay 24/7 pencil liners.

Milani loses because it smudges way to easily. It’s always smudging underneath even when I don’t apply it on my lower lash line. It’s great for blending as long as you do it immediately because it tends to dry quickly, and once it dries, it’s not going to budge. AT ALL. More comparable to a gel liner consistency. Still great liner though, and WAY cheaper than urban decay.

Loreal on the other hand, doesn’t run as much. It’s very smooth and applies across literally like a liquid liner would. I’m very impressed with it. It’s also cheaper I think…(Correct me if I’m wrong)…It doesn’t smudge as well though, so it’s not like you can create an instant smokey eye like you could with the milani one. It’s very smooth and glides on better than the Urban Decay ones in my opinion. It can smudge a little bit, which is just enough to soften up the line (which is my favorite look of the moment) Why did I not buy this sooner?!!

Recommended product—liquid liner

Hey guys, sorry I’ve been MIA for a while now. BUT I got a new product raaaaave :)

Recently Maybelline came out with a new eyeliner: eye studio master precise ink pen eyeliner in black. It’s pretty darn good. I’ve been waiting for something like this for a long time to replace my bona voce liquid liner. It’s a very thin felt tip liner that is simply a continuous flow every time. Don’t need to click anything/shake it up/twist it. Nothing. It’s awesome! Perfect precision. Perfect black color. Definitely an A+ for this product. Only thing I have as an issue is that its a little dry when applying it. I like it when it feels like a liquid and just glides on. It sticks to your eyes a little if your eyes are dry like mine, but just use small strokes and you’ll be fine. Oh and it only comes in black. I’m a brown liner kinda girl. Black feels a little harsh for me, and brown just softens up the eyes more and makes it look warmer/friendlier…(brownish black is my favorite color for eyeliner—from maybelline stiletto liquid liner). Anyways, I’m definitely recommending this product. I’m pretty sure it was under $9 too. So it’s definitely a bargain. Good job Maybelline!

Another day in Chinatown…

So today I went to eat in Chinatown with my grandparents, my uncle and my little brother, Brian. When the owner (whom i’ve met about 5 times already) came by our table, he asked my uncle “Oh, is this your girlfriend? (points at me)” ….”no i’m his niece”…… “ohhhhh ok. so is this your niece’s boyfriend?! (points to Brian)”……………omg. serious face palm right there. dude. seriously. i’ve met you a five times with my parents, my uncle, my siblings and my grandparents all at the same table.

This either means my uncle looks like he’s 20, I look like I’m 40, or my brother and I look nothing alike. Or a mixture of all of this. Oh wellll…..

Just used this foundation on a 16 year old with oily/combination skin. (I was working I promise, it’s makeup for her sweet 16…yes, we do make up at our store.) Anyways, it looked amazing on her! Didn’t even have to use powder to set anything. If you have oily/combination skin, try this foundation out. It’s suuuuuuuper smooth too. Softer than a baby’s butt :)
The consistency is a little dry, that’s why it’s great for her. It sucked up all the oils and left her skin looking matte, yet still glowy. Didn’t look caked on at all. I used just a little bit using a sponge applicator. It’s a mousse-y foundation. Got the make up base and color all in one. No need for primer. Stays on very well. Can use powder products on top with ease. No weird marks left. Make sure you moisturize first. Great product. Incredible results for oily skin types.

Great ways to treat a sore throat
 1. Tea with honey. The honey will soothe your throat
 2. Don’t drink anything too cold or too hot. Room temperature is ideal
 3. Nothing too salty or too sugary. It will make your throat get more phlegm and dry it out even more
 4. Boil a can of coke with ginger in it. If you have a cold, you will love the results. I do this every time I can get my hands on some coca-cola :)

Why am I saying this? because I think my voice might be gone tomorrow from screaming so much after watching the knicks vs. raptors game.

Your pillow: what it might be doing to your hair/skin

image

Having a great pillow is essential for you when you sleep, but sometimes you might want to consider changing the fabric or washing it…here’s why:

1. Cotton Fabric Pillowcases

 • Whatever way you tend to sleep in terms of where your head is to your pillow (back of head to pillow, side of head to pillow…face to pillow), cotton pillowcases are not ideal for any part of your head. Cotton pillowcases can suck out the oils from your hair and your face, leaving everything more dry. The natural oils in your hair are essential to keep your hair nice and strong. If these oils are sucked up, it can leave your hair feeling more brittle and more prone to split ends.
 • If you sleep with any part of your face touching the pillow, it’s likely that the oils from your face will be sucked up too. That night cream you just put on could definitely be all over your pillow by the time you wake up without you realizing it.
 • Try sticking to silk or satin pillowcases. They feel softer, and they won’t do as much damage to your hair/skin. If you’re really feeling good, you could get a silk pillow too. This means there’s no possible way your hair/skin could dry out!

2. Wash your pillowcase

 • Now I know not everyone does this, but there definitely are a number of people who drool in their sleep. This is one of the reasons why you have to wash your face in the morning! But, the drool could also end up on your pillow. If you end up leaving it there and letting it dry up, you’re actually letting it touch your face all over again. This means…yes, you know what’s coming…PIMPLES. This is a very common reason why people will get pimples, even if they do everything they can do prevent them. So every once in a while, make sure you wash your pillowcase.
 • Other reasons why the pillowcase could get dirty is if you have excess product in your hair. (For example, that leave in conditioner that didn’t dry all the way before you went to sleep, or that time you were so tired and went to bed with hairspray still in your hair)
Will you be my Valentine? <3

Yup, it’s that time again! Time to whip out the tricks to make yourself look amazing on this day of looooooovvvveeeee :)

Make your skin GLOW

Glowing skin is something that everyone can achieve. It doesn’t matter what type of skin you have too. Here’s a few tips on how to achieve that glow.

image

For you people with skin that is clear, you’re lucky. Take this to your advantage and let your natural skin SHINE. Start by getting a good night’s rest. If you apply night cream, you will notice that in the morning, your skin will appear much better, especially after waking yourself up from washing your face. Your night cream works best at night time because that’s when your cells start to regenerate, letting the product sink deeper into your skin. Another thing you can do is use a dewy foundation/tinted moisturizer. Don’t use powder on top. It’ll matify your face, and by doing that you’re actually making the make up look more cakey. It also makes you look older when you have a matte face. Dewy glows will give you a fresh, glowing, young look. Use a little bit of blush, conceal any pimples/spots with your normal concealer, and add highlighter (you can use a shimmering white/shimmering peach eyeshadow if you don’t own a highlighter…see below for exactly where I like to use highlighter) Add a little bit of bronzer to the sides of your forehead, your cheeks and just under your chin. A little bit of brown eyeliner, some mascara, and a pink gloss/lipstick/tinted lip balm will make you look naturally beautiful and fresh faced.

For you people with acne, or any type of blemishes on your skin, you can achieve a glowing look too! This is when foundation and key highlighting comes in handy.

Foundation: Choose something that feels good to you. Foundation in general is not great for your skin, so my suggestion is putting on a cream, then a makeup base/primer, and then your foundation. This will lead to a smoother application, making your skin look flawless. Use your daily foundation/tinted moisturizer. Whatever you’re using on a daily basis is like your second skin, so that will look the most natural. Use something closer to your skin color.

This goes for highlight too. If you’re very light toned, use a white shimmery color. If you’re darker, opt for a color that’s got some gold in it. The white will stand out too much on darker skin tones, making it look fake and odd. Using something with gold flecks will make your skin look like it’s glowing, bringing out that natural tan you got about you. :)

Highlighting:

 • center of forehead
 • brow bones
 • center of the eyelid (right on the eyeball)
 • bridge of nose (don’t put too much on the tip of your nose though)
 • cheekbones (depending on how high or low your cheekbones are, you can choose where to highlight it. Just make sure it starts from under where the edge of where your pupil is up to the part right under your temples. Don’t put too much highlight on your cheek…it’ll make your face look too bright.)
 • tip of the cupids bow (makes your lips look fuller!)
 • just under the lip…on the chin. (no need for too much. seriously, just a dab is fine.)
 • collar bones (Seriously adds a glow about you. Dust a little right on there, and it helps draw attention from neck up. Your face isn’t the only part of the body you should take note of, your neck/decollete area are very important too!)

Make sure to define your brows. By filling them in, you bring more definition to your face. Filling in your brows completes any make up look. Your brows frame your face, and thus give it dimension.

A little smudged eyeliner, some mascara, peachy blush, (bronzer if needed) and a pink/reddish lip, and you’re good to go! If you have any acne in specific areas, use boldness to draw attention away from it. For example, if you have a lot of acne on your chin area, add more definition to your eyes…lightly smoke it up with some natural brown eyeshadows and make your eyes your focal point, then do a nude or light pink lip. It will draw attention away from your chin. You could do the same trick again if you have more acne around your forehead…draw more attention to your lips. Do a red or bright pink lip with simple eye make up. The bright colored lip will add a pop of color, and actually, it makes you look more awake and energized too, especially if you have eyeliner on as well. :)
