Sensitive skin is the toughest type of skin care. You don’t want something that will cause your skin to break out, because an allergic reaction to a product can lead to scary results.
1. How do you know you have sensitive skin?
Well, you could always do a test. See what happens when you use a product with a strong fragrance in it…Does your skin feel itchy? Does it burn? This probably means you have sensitive skin. Sensitive skin is also normally more thin, which is why some products can lead to breaking out if it is too oily. Your skin can’t absorb it. It would end up storing the excess oils in pimples.
2. So what products can you use?
Opt for organic products or products without any scents. Try something that is alcohol free and has a lesser combination of products. One company (from my experience, since i have semi-sensitive skin) that I would probably stay away from, is Qiora. Shiseido is good if you use their SkinCare line, but Qiora has certain scents that are built in it to help “relax” or “revive” your senses, but those scents actually end up making you break out. Sensitive skin people should try to go for something containing Aloe Vera (best for sensitive skin and for sunburn because it’s gentle and it soothes and replenishes your skin!) or using basic products like Vaseline for the lips and body, and using simple products like Cetaphil or Aveeno is good for the face too. Remember to try and stay away from scented products or products with too much alcohol or crazy excess oils, because it will only clog up your skin and cause allergic reactions which could lead to a very puffy red face…and when i say red, i mean ALLLL OVERRR…
3. Don’t use a thick cleanser. Try to use cleansers that are already in the form of a mousse or a cleansing milk, because that way, it won’t totally dry out your skin and there won’t be any soap suds left in your pores. Microbeads will only think out your skin, and since your skin is thin enough, you DON’T want that to happen. People with thicker skin could have sensitive skin too, I’m just saying people with thinner skin are more likely to have sensitive skin. If you have thicker skin and it’s sensitive, then it is IMPERATIVE that you use all organic products or all water based products
