1. TOUCHING YOUR FACE, yes this includes the time you touched it just because you had an itch on your nose…
2. oily skin…try using oil sheets throughout the day to help with taking away some of those oils…
3. being in a DIRTY environment
4. HORMONES (can be from puberty, birth control, or lack of taking birth control)
5. using toner without moisturizer (causes skin to remain oily… you need to apply moisturizer to lock in the good oils and keep out the bad.)
6. not enough water in your skin (skin thinks that it’s too dry, so it produces its own oils to make up for the water loss in that area…this is common in combination, dry, normal, and sensitive skin types)
7. eating things that are too salty, greasy, oily, or deep fried
8. NO SLEEP… if you’re not well rested, pimples will start to pop up on your face.
9. genetics…more prone to getting pimples…linked with hormones
10. sweat…when you sweat, it releases toxins in your body, but sweat actually can cause pimples if you allow it to drip down your face or if you don’t wash it off afterwards.
11. OTHER PEOPLE TOUCHING YOUR FACE WITH THEIR DIRTY OILY HANDS
12. not washing off your make up
13. not washing off sunscreen or anything you apply that has SPF in it like your day time moisturizers
14. not wiping your mouth…or wiping your mouth with your hand/sleeve instead of a clean napkin. The oils from the food will soak into your skin, causing pimples around your mouth. The clean napkin will soak up the oils from before, and when you wash your face, be sure not to forget your mouth area.
15. applying any face make up after a facial…you want your skin to finally breath after a facial. Opt for a tinted moisturizer instead. Provides coverage and might not be as good as keeping your skin completely naked, but its not nearly as bad as applying foundation.
16. POPPING PIMPLES YOURSELF. Don’t do it. It’s like you’re trying to perform open heart surgery on yourself. Just leave it for the professionals to handle for you (aka the person who does your facials.) Doing it yourself will irritate it and make it red for weeeeeeeeks. Oh and not only that, but its likely that another one will grow in the same place/area because the pimple wasn’t properly cleaned out or closed up afterwards.
17. drool…just wash your face please.
18. kissing! if someone has fresh lipstick or chapstick on and kisses your face, make sure you wash the remains off your face before it becomes a pimple!!!!
19. using products that are too oily for your skin. If you have lotion, and you decide ‘hey, i think i need more of this…’ think twice. It might be too much for your skin to handle and could end up in little break outs all over your face. If you have oily skin, and are using something to fight wrinkles, think about asking your beauty consultant if its ok for you to use that first. I’ve seen so many people with oily skin types buying stuff from department or drug stores that are meant to help people with dryer skin. Most wrinkle creams target dryness because most wrinkles develop from excess movements with inflexible, dry skin.
20. Using products that are too smelly for your SENSITIVE skin. Things with too much fragrance that are meant to help people with most skin types might make your skin VERY UPSET! Opt for something fragrance free…your skin will thank you.
