Happy chinese new year! So for chinese new year, you have to wear red. I was thus inspired to make a blog post about creating the perfect red lip. No editing done. Taken with photobooth during night time in my room. (Red lips totally makes me look whiter than I actually am. Not wearing any foundation at all by the way.)

Products used:

1. Shiseido The Makeup Lip Liner Pencil in Red Pink 10 (it’s a pink lipliner that’s more on the orange side)

2.Clarins Joli Rouge lipstick in Clarins Red 716 (red lipstick)—-so moisturizing!

3. Mei Linda Waterproof Lipliner Pencil in Berry 04 (a red lipliner)

4. Lancome Maquicomplet concealer in light buff

FIRST FIRST FIRST MAKE SURE YOUR LIPS ARE NOT CHAPPED. APPLY A LIPBALM. I like my EOS lipbalm in jujube. THEN AFTER WAITING UNTIL YOUR LIPS DON’T FEEL CHAPPED, WIPE OFF THE EXCESS WITH A TISSUE. (save this tissue. you will be using it later)

Step 1. 

Use an orange toned lipliner. Line your lips by starting with the bottom lip, then the upper lip. 

So, first line the middle of your bottom lip.

Next, line the rest of your bottom lip starting from the corners, moving downward, connecting it to your first line. 

Then line your cupids bow to the shape you desire. I like to start off by lining the middle first and then working outwards, like the arrows show.

Next, finish it off by starting at the corners again and moving inwards to connect to the line you just made for your cupids bow.

Then, fill in the rest of your lip like your kid coloring in a picture in a coloring book. Make sure you stay in the lines.

Step 2

Apply your lipstick. You can apply straight from the tube to your lips. Once again, making sure you stay in the lines. Then, blot your lips with the tissue you used in the very beginning…Fold the tissue in half, place it between your lips, and then press your lips onto the clean part of the tissue.

Step 3

Apply your red lipstick again. You can use a lip brush for precision, or you could carefully apply it from the tube again. If you really want this to last all day, blot and apply for a 2nd time. If not, then you can continue to the next step.

Step 4

Take your concealer and touch up any edges to make your red lip look crisp and clean.

Step 5

Take your red lipliner and softly trace out the faded areas of your red lips. This will make it stand out. Make sure your lipliner is the same or almost the same color as your lipstick, that way it won’t look weird when you reapply your lipliner.

***Make sure that whenever you use lipstick, or any lip product for that matter, that you wipe it off at night with a make up remover. Lipsticks contain iron in it, which will stain the areas around your mouth. This is why some people have dark shadows around their mouth. You will see this as a common thing with youtube beauty gurus. They always mention how they have to use concealer around their mouth because it’s “dark” around there. This is commonly caused by not using make up remover for the lip area. Even if you wiped off your lipstick, or if it was completely faded away, the iron is still trapped inside your lips. Only make up remover can get it out, so even if you have no color on your lips at the end of the day, use make up remover.***
